Day 3 & 4Mvvu Camp

You will be transferred from Chembe Eagle’s Nest & make your way to Mvuu Camp which is approximately a 2 hour drive. The accommodation is a clever mix of stone and canvas chalets and specially-designed family tents.

Mvuu Camp overlooks a broad stretch of the Shire River with a profusion of hippos, crocodiles and the amazing birdlife of the Liwonde National Park. Boat trips are the highlight and offer the best way to seeing the park’s elephants as well as the huge crocodiles. Birdlife is prolific with the park regarded as one of the finest birding spots in Africa – both for the number of species and the relative ease with which the ‘specials’ can be seen.

Activities at Mvuu Camp revolve around boating trips on the Shire River and game drives (morning and afternoon/evening). Nature walks and bike rides are also incredibly popular. The wildlife includes large breeding herds of elephant, plenty of hippo and crocodile, sable antelope, impala, reedbuck, oribi, leopard, serval and lion. Day 5Ku Chawe Inn

You will depart Mvuu Camp & make your way to Zomba. Zomba is in southern Malawi, in the Shire Highlands. The city is best known for its British colonial architecture and its location at the base of the dramatic Zomba plateau.

Zomba Plateau is arguably Zomba’s most famous feature. In some parts, it rises to 1800m in height and is covered with vast tracts of African Juniper and Widdringtonia, and other mixed vegetation. The top of the plateau is crisscrossed by streams and is dotted with waterfalls and still lakes. The hike to the top of the Plateau is a popular tourist activity.

Sunbird Ku Chawe is Malawi’s premiere mountain resort and one of the best places to fully take in the vast and beautiful countryside of Malawi. The hotel stands overlooking the Zomba Plateau which rises to nearly 2200m above sea level. Around this hotel are some of the most stunning views to be seen in all of Africa.

Discover a majestic vision of beauty hidden in the heart of Malawi. Surrounded by landscape and terraced gardens, this hotel commands spectacular views, which on clear days stretch all the way along the Shire Highlands and Mount Mulanje.

Each room has been attractively furnished with en suite bathrooms, satellite television and log fires to compliment the cozy atmosphere of the Inn. The gardens are beautifully landscaped and full of interesting flowers and trees Rooms are all en suite, air-conditioned, have digital satellite television, international direct dialing, Wi-Fi internet, email facilities and 220 volts power points (British standard).
