Chembe Eagles Nest to Mulanje and Nyala Lodge

An 8 day, 7 night tour of Malawi showcasing Lake Malawi, Mount Mulanje and Lengwe National Park. This tour includes all transfers from Blantyre or Lilongwe.

You will start off with 3 nights at Chembe Eagles Nest in Cape Maclear followed by 2 nights in Mulanje and 2 nights at Nyala Lodge in Lengwe National Park in the Lower Shire.

Itinerary

Day 1 - 3Chembe Eagles Nest

You will be transferred from Blantyre or Lilongwe & set off to Cape Maclear & taken to Chembe Eagles Nest. It is an approximate 4 hour drive.

Set apart from the hustle and bustle of village life, Chembe Eagles Nest will guarantee a relaxing experience in Cape Maclear. With a private beach on the tranquil shores of Lake Malawi, so much to do and even more to discover, having the most memorable holiday is easy.

There are a variety of activities to take part in, should the need strike you. Take a relaxing cruise on our Catamaran “Mama Afrika”, while watching an exquisite sunset unfold before your eyes. Cape Maclear also offers some of the best snorkeling there is to offer. For the more energetic, Chembe also offers water skiing and tube riding, as well as kayaking for the kids. The chalets are all En-Suite with mosquito nets and ceiling fans. All chalets are lake facing with a patio to watch the exquisite sunset from your patio. With a private beach on the tranquil shores of Lake Malawi, you have so much to do and even more to discover.

Day 4 & 5Mount Mulanje

You will depart Chembe Eagles Nest for Mulanje & taken to Likhubula Forest Lodge.

Mulanje is a town in the Southern Region of Malawi close to the border of Mozambique. It is near the Mulanje Massif. It is the headquarters of the conservation group, the Mulanje Mountain Conservation Trust.

The small town of Mulanje is the center of Malawi’s tea growing industry Mt. Mulanje is one of the very remarkable natural resources in Malawi. Apart from its famous and imposing Sapitwa Peak that stands over 3000 meters above sea level, the attractive Mt. Mulanje is more than a rock. It has a very rich and stunning forest reserve which is home to a rich and diverse endemic plant and animal species.

After breakfast at Likhubula Forest Lodge, you will start your hike on Mulanje Mountain. Overnight at one of the huts on the Mountain.

Day 6 & 7Nyala Lodge

You will be transferred from Mulanje & make your way to Nyala Lodge which is approximately a 2 ½ hour drive. Nyala Lodge is situated an hour away from Blantyre in Lengwe National Park. It is easily accessible on good roads. The drive down from the escarpment provides amazing views over the Lower Shire Valley & the Shire River. Nyala Lodge offers nine Luxurious en-suite chalets (family rooms and double rooms), which, with their thatched roofs, blend in with the surroundings. All rooms have cold and hot water showers, electricity, mosquito nets ceiling fan. Two rooms are equipped with air conditioners. The main building consists a restaurant and bar area with a Khonde overlooking a waterhole, where animals frequently come to drink. There is a little pool where one can cool down on the hot days.

Lengwe is home to the beautiful Nyala Antelope which is indigenous only to this park in Malawi. There are many species in the park including Kudu. Impala, Bush Buck, Reed Buck, Buffalo, Duiker, Hyena and Warthogs. The park is home to over 300 bird species.

Day 8Return to Blantyre or Lilongwe

You will depart Nyala Lodge at 09:00 after breakfast and be transfered back to Blantyre or Lilongwe
